Be Counted, Participate in the 2010 Census

Taken every 10 years, the United States Census surveys people across the country on their marital status, age, gender, race, place of birth, education, job status, etc.

The information is used to determine how much funding New York State will receive from the federal government for education, health care, job training, transportation, senior services, and other key services.

The 2010 Census will be mailed to you in mid-March. You will be asked to answer 10 simple questions about yourself and each person who lives with you. The census form does not ask any questions about citizenship, legal or immigration status, or any information about your income. You must mail back the completed form by April 1, 2010. All personal information you provide on the form is completely private and will not be shared with anyone else, including any federal, state, or city agency.
