When should your child start going to the dentist?
When your baby is about six months old, he or she will begin to show signs of teething. Your child should begin regular dental check-ups after their first tooth shows, but no later than their first birthday.
As teeth begin to show, parents should brush them gently with water and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Children under the age of two should not use toothpaste. Parents should always watch their children when they are brushing their teeth to make sure toothpaste is not swallowed.
Most children will have all 20 baby teeth by the age of three. Talk to your dentist about a regular schedule for dental visits.
